This hackathon is designed to bridge the gap between developers and the local community, providing a platform for beginners especially to learn to collaborate with real clients and understand customer needs. Participants will go through the entire process of client interaction, requirement gathering, design, development, and deployment, ensuring a holistic learning experience.
By the end of the hackathon, you'll have not only built a functional website for a local business but also developed invaluable skills in client communication, project management, and technical documentation.

What to build
Build a responsive, user-friendly website for a local business of your choice to enhance their online presence and boost visibility. With the steps below, you'll be well on your way to building a stellar website, helping a local business, and potentially winning amazing prizes!
How to Participate
- Register for the hackathon. It’s FREE!
- Join the official Discord hackathon channel to connect with fellow participants.
- Identify a Business: Look for a local business in your area that could benefit from an online presence. This could be a small shop, a restaurant, a service provider, or any business without a robust online presence.
- Approach the Business Owner: Introduce yourself and explain the hackathon. Discuss their needs and gather requirements such as the color theme, images, videos, text, and other content they want on their website.
- Client Meeting: Arrange a meeting with the business owner to gather detailed requirements. Ensure you understand their brand, target audience, and specific needs for the website.
- Documentation: Document all the requirements and create a project plan outlining the features and pages the website will include.
- Design and Develop: Start designing and developing the website based on the gathered requirements. Focus on creating a responsive, user-friendly, and aesthetically pleasing site (adding functionalities is a boost).
- Regular Check-ins: Keep the business owner updated with your progress. Seek their feedback and make necessary adjustments based on their input.
- Record a short video (1-2 minutes) showcasing your project. Upload it publicly on YouTube.
- Publish an article on your Hashnode blog (or set one up here) to introduce your project (see sample).
- Include the hashtags #BuildforBusinessHackathon and #CodeWithUnclebigbay in your article and social media posts for tracking purposes.
- Spread the word about your project by sharing the article on social media and tagging the organizer (@unclebigbay143 and @shamzbridge).
- Submit your project entry for the hackathon before the DEADLINE.

The hackathon is open to everyone! We welcome participants of all skill levels.
You can participate as an individual or a team of up to 5 people (with only one submission per team). Working in a team can be a great way to learn from each other and share the workload, but it's not mandatory.
